TRAUMA THERAPY (EMDR)
What is EMDR?
EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. EMDR therapy is intended to remove or reduce psychotrauma and trauma-related symptoms. When a person is very upset, their brain cannot process information as it does ordinarily. One moment becomes "frozen in time," and remembering a trauma may feel as bad as going through it the first time because the images, sounds, smells, and feelings haven’t changed. Such memories have a lasting negative effect that interferes with the way a person sees the world and the way they relate to other people.
Trauma therapy (EMDR) seems to have a direct effect on the way that the brain processes information. Normal information processing is resumed, so following a successful EMDR session, a person no longer relives the images, sounds, and feelings when the event is brought to mind. You still remember what happened, but it is less upsetting. Many types of therapy have similar goals. However, EMDR appears to be similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming or REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Therefore, EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.
For whom?
Psychotrauma victims are people that went through or witnessed life-threatening events, for example:
-
(armed) assaults;
-
shooting;
-
car accidents and/or
-
all types of abuse.
EMDR also works very well with fears and phobia's, for example:
-
fear of flying;
-
fear of swimming and/or
-
specific insect or animal phobia's.
Prognosis: Most people heal after 1 to 7 EMDR therapy sessions!
What is Stress Reduction Therapy?
Stress Reduction Therapy is intended to reduce significant stress levels by stimulating the person to think and identify thoughts that influence them uncounsciously.
For whom?
Clients for Stress Reduction Therapy would be clients with negative feelings, thoughts and/or physical complaints (fatigue, insomnia) that obstruct them from living a normal life.
Prognosis: Recovery between 1-10 therapy sessions.
STRESS REDUCTION THERAPY
BODY ORIENTED THERAPY
What is Body Oriented Therapy?
Every human being has a certain physical and psychological individuality and every life experience will leave a trace on this individuality. Body Oriented therapy is intended to use the body experience as a resource for psychological healing, rather than the content of emotional discomforts.
For whom?
Clients for body-oriented therapy would be people who suffer of anxiety, stress and trauma, but also medically unsolved bodily complaints and attachment issues. , for example:
-
any kind of abuse;
-
headaches (migraine);
-
pain in the shoulders;
-
pain in the lower back;
-
all kinds of other medically unsolved pains;
-
parent-child attachment issues.
I also used this therapy for ex-cancer patients that are having trouble trusting their bodies again.
For this kind of therapy a referral letter of your family doctor is solicited, to exclude disease and prevent possible damage to our clients.
Prognosis: Healing depends on the readiness of the clients to open out. Some people need just one or two, and others need eleven or twelve.
SCHEMA THERAPY
What is Schema (Therapy)?
Schema's are mental structures of preconceived ideas; it's the personal way we perceive and store information. Schema therapy is an innovative psychotherapy, that combines the best aspects of different therapies into one unified model. It is intended to help clients to meet their basic emotional needs that were not met in childhood, by helping the client to heal disfunctional schema's and replace maladaptive coping styles.
For whom?
Clients for schema therapy would be clients with Borderline Personality Disorders and other difficult individual or relational problems.
Prognosis: Average of 30 sessions.
GROUP THERAPY

Pranic Healing is a highly evolved and tested system of energy, that utilizes bio-energy to balance, harmonize and transform the body's energy processes. Pranic Healing also applies breathing techniques, because inhaling fresh air is essential in restoring energy balances.
Pranic Psychotherapy adds a cognitive-behavioural dimension to the practice of pranic healing to serve you even better!
For whom?
Clients for pranic healing would be clients that are or want to be more aware of the presence of body energy and wish to be treated in an alternative but effective way.

Group therapy is intended for those people that benefit from sharing knowledge and experience with people with common diagnosis or topic interests together.
